Thanks to the sponsoring by Santa Monica Sailing foundation and hosted by SCCYC, an introduction to dinghy sailing brought over a dozen sailors and prospective sailors together to see first hand and try out the boats present in the dinghy fleets of the Marina del Rey circuit.
Participants got an overview of dinghy sailing contrasting with the experience of big boat sailing since several attendees did cruise or race on larger boats.
Following a primer on dinghy racing ahead of the start of the Sunstroke Series on Thursday nights, participants got a chance to see how the boats are rigged before stepping on a variety of boat types which showed - Laser, Lido 14, Coronado 15 and Snipe.
The weather gods did provide amazing summer like conditions that were ideal for the event.
Thank You Tucker Strasser, Tina Romain and Rob Dekker for organizing and running this event to promote small boat sailing.
Dinghy sailing is a healthy water sport practiced from ages of 8 to 88. It is physical yet not strenuous. It keeps you sharp and nimble. It remains the most affordable way to enjoy yachting across generations.
